Pitching competition to showcase solutions at the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit in Singapore this October.

Thai Union has partnered with the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit in Singapore to launch an Innovation Challenge for start-ups developing novel ingredients and applications from ocean-derived ingredients.

Speaking about the challenge, Thai Union’s Global Innovation Director, Dr. Tunyawat Kasemsuwan says: “The ocean offers an abundance of sustainable, nutritious food products. As a Global seafood leader, we are delighted to offer this opportunity to innovators working in the exciting area of novel food ingredients. I personally look forward to discovering fresh ideas and new solutions that will support our SeaChange 2030 Sustainability Strategy to reshape the seafood industry.”

The challenge winner will receive invaluable support and guidance from Thai Union’s Global Innovation team, including technical expertise, regulatory assistance, and formulation development, to bring their ideas to life and make a positive impact in the realm of diet and nutrition.

  • Use of precision fermentation to produce ingredients that otherwise would be marine-sourced.
  • Functional applications of marine based oils, such as extending shelf-life properties to enhance diet and nutrition
  • Seaweed or algae-derived ingredients promoting health and wellness
  • Healthy, functional ingredients with primary supportive studies

Three selected finalists will pitch their solutions live on stage in Singapore at the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit to Thai Union senior executives and a global audience of agri-food investors, food brands and technology leaders, before the winner is announced.
