Dr Tan is the Executive Director of Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI).
A food scientist by training, Dr Tan has more than 25 years in the Food & Nutrition industry spanning across APAC, Europe and N. America. Her most recent role was EVP, Chief Technology Officer of CJ CheilJedang, a S.Korean food & bio ingredients conglomerate based in Seoul. During her 4 years term in CJ, she played the pivotal role of a change agent to transform the organization’s R&D setup and innovation culture to enable the group’s expansion globally. Prior to that, Dr Tan worked in Nestlé during which she held various positions including Head of Regional R&D in Singapore, Global R&D Manager for Infant & Maternal Nutrition and Corporate Technology Platform Lead in Switzerland. Her technical experience includes product and process development, consumer & sensory science and biotransformation.
Concurrent to her Executive Director role in A*STAR, Dr Tan is also a Non-executive Chair and Board member of other organizations.
A passionate advocate for collaborative partnership, Dr Tan has a PhD from the University of Leeds (UK) and an MBA from the Simon Business School, University of Rochester (USA).
