Sebastian Maurer-Stroh

Sebastian Maurer-Stroh is Executive Director of A*STAR’s Bioinformatics Institute (BII). Trained in theoretical biochemistry at the University of Vienna, he completed his PhD at the Institute of Molecular Pathology and held FEBS and Marie Curie fellowships in Brussels. Since joining BII in 2007, he has led bioinformatics and infectious disease research, contributing to precision medicine, food safety and global pathogen surveillance through GISAID. He has received multiple national and public sector awards, including the Public Administration Medal (Silver).
