Ramesh Ramachandran
Ramesh is the Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra’s Agri Business - a diversified Agri player comprising 5 business lines including seeds, seed potatoes (a JV with HZPC), fruits exports, crop care (a JV with Sumitomo corporation) and micro irrigation (a listed entity called Mahindra EPC Industries Limited). He serves as Managing Director of the board at Mahindra Agri Solutions Limited, Managing Director of the board at Mahindra EPC, Non-Executive Chairman of the board of Mahindra HZPC (seed potatoes) and Non-Executive chairman of the board of Mahindra Summit Agriscience Limited(crop care).
Ramesh joined the M&M group’s $4B Farm Equipment Business in 2015 as head of strategy and went on to incubate and set up Krish-e (a Farming as a service vertical) as well as Precision Farming – business models that required the development and commercialization of advanced technologies such as IoT, Remote sensing, Imagery analytics, AI and Robotics. Ramesh is a seasoned Agri and AgTech professional and has served as a board member for 3 AgTech startups - one each in India, Switzerland and Canada.
Ramesh has 30+ years of leadership experience in innovation, strategy, technology and P&L management. This includes 9 years with Unilever’s ice cream and frozen foods business in a variety of UK and European marketing and innovation roles as well as 6 years in the London office of a boutique innovation and venturing consultancy where he helped Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 clients incubate and grow new businesses. He also has 6 years of early work experience with Shell in India across sales, marketing and business development, reporting eventually to the MD.
He has served on several CII and FICCI councils and committees including member National Council of Agriculture, co-chair Indo Australia CEO forum (Agritech), co-chair CII Western Region Rural Urban Committee and others. Ramesh has an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, an MMS from S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research and a B.Sc. (Hon) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
