Executive Chairman , PRIVA GROUP, Netherlands

Meiny Prins is the CEO and co-owner of Priva Group, a global leader in high-tech solutions for climate control, energy efficiency, and water reuse. Priva's innovations span industries such as horticulture, the built environment, and indoor farming, promoting sustainable practices.

As a passionate advocate for sustainability and innovation, Meiny is internationally renowned for her ability to bring together businesses, governments, and communities in the pursuit of a greener future, with a strong focus on food security.

She champions the integration of local, professional, scalable and economically viable food-production within urban environments, seeing this as a crucial step toward addressing global environmental challenges and ensuring food security. Meiny emphasizes, “With climate change, without energy there will be no more food.” She stresses the growing necessity of incorporating food production into urban areas, noting, “There also will be no next generation farmers doing the same job as their fathers out in the fields.”

In 2012, Meiny founded Sustainable Urban Delta, a platform aimed at inspiring and supporting municipalities, urban planners, architects, developers, and citizens to include food production in urban planning. She presents the Netherlands as the world's first ‘food-producing city’ to inspire other major urban areas that this can be done.

Through her latest initiative, Greengrounds, Meiny and the team are turning this vision into action. Greengrounds assists local governments in transforming urban spaces - such as green belts and brownfields - into productive food hubs. The team conducts assessments of food security, develops feasibility studies for potential investors like real estate developers, and fosters cross-sector partnerships to create resilient ecosystems.
