Laurence Jassogne holds a PhD in soil science. After her PhD, she worked for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) as part of the CGIAR. She was based in Uganda for more than a decade where she was leading a research team on climate smart agriculture. The main focus was how to scale climate smart solutions in smallholder systems ' the main crops were coffee and cocoa. She was also part of a research program on climate change, agriculture, and food security. After she moved from Uganda to Singapore, she joined the Nature-based Solutions business at Shell where she was a technical manager leading the activities for unlocking new pathways to carbon credits. These pathways where rice, regenerative agriculture (incl. grasslands) and biochar. In June 2024, Laurence joined Olam Agri as the Global Head of Nature and Climate Solutions. In her new role, Laurence supports the company in designing and implementing strategies and programs on regenerative agriculture, carbon projects and landscape level projects that will lead to positive outcomes for nature, climate and livelihoods.
