Karim is the Co-Founder and CIO of 8F Asset Management Pte. Ltd. (8F), a MAS licensed Fund Manager. Established in 2016, 8F manages private equity funds that develops vertically integrated aquaculture production and processing facilities, using land-based sustainable Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technology, creating material positive social and environmental impact. Headquartered in Singapore with group offices in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi, 8F has the global reach to stay closely connected with its investors and source the best investment opportunities across all markets. Prior to founding 8F, Karim was based in Singapore as the Managing Director and Head of the Alternatives and Fund Solutions business in Asia Pacific for Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (DeAWM), managing over EUR 49 billion of capital globally. Karim was a member of the Alternatives and Fund Solutions Executive Committee and the DeAWM Asia Pacific Executive Committee. Prior to Deutsche bank, Karim spent 10 years at Argan Capital, a European mid-market private equity fund, most recently as a Partner responsible for principal investments and a member of the investment committee (and its predecessor, Bank of America Capital Partners). There, he led a number of European private equity deals, including structuring financing, implementing strategic change and exercising executive and board control. Earlier in his career, Karim worked with Merrill Lynch in London and Lehman Brothers in New York, where he concentrated on financing and M&A transactions for industrial growth, energy and power, and telecommunications companies. Karim holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business from McGill University and a Master of Science in Management Sciences from University of Montreal.
